Cheeswrights
RELOCATING
Founded in 1779, Cheeswrights is one of the oldest scrivener notary firms in the City of London, providing notarial and legalisation services for individuals and corporate clients.
Having spent the last 15 years in Leadenhall St, the redevelopment of their former building provided Cheeswrights the opportunity to move, finding new space in 16 Eastcheap with the help of Fisher German.
CONSIDERED DESIGN
Due to the nature of their work, in which the team are dealing with original documents daily, the majority of employees are based in the office full-time. We designed a considered space in response, focussing on the comfort and productivity of those working typical 9 to 5 hours.
Working closely with the client to understand their requirements in detail, we designed a scheme that adapted the floorplate to give allowance for private offices, an open plan space, meeting rooms and a generous tea point/breakout, whilst making cost savings throughout by making use of existing elements, namely partitions, doors and furniture.
client needs
We built Cheeswrights’ office around the needs of their staff and how the space is utilised to ensure the team is supported by their working environment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the space, upon exiting the lift employees and visitors can quickly navigate to where they need to be without disrupting those working in the open plan area.
The east side of the space hosts a 14-person boardroom and 2 smaller meeting rooms, each equipped with AV technology for added functionality.
Continuing further you reach the large teapoint/breakout area which is used daily by employees to take a break from work and re-energise, but also provides ample room to be used as a town hall space for larger gatherings.
Work Environment
A number of changes were made to the west side of the space including the construction of 5 new private offices for senior members of staff.
These glass fronted offices sit at perimeter of the building benefitting from plenty of natural light, purposefully glazed to allow the light to flow into open plan area located more centrally.
Demolishing some of the existing partitioning allowed us to make room another 10 of our clients existing desks in the open plan, while retaining other structures to repurpose them as a comms room and print area.
Final Result
We have provided Cheeswrights’ with a new space to allow the company to conduct its business effectively and with ease by working closely with key members of the team to gather a deep understanding of their needs before putting pen to paper with potential schemes.
We’ve been so pleased to hear how delighted the team at Cheeswrights’ are with their new office following their compulsory move.
Linsey Bilham, Notarial Practice Manager, offered some kind words:
“Constructive Space were great right from the beginning; communication was fantastic, everything was very smooth, they were easy to deal with.
We had some extra requests throughout the build and they were all dealt with professionally and very quickly.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!“.
